When Did Abstract Art Start?

MoMA doesn’t own any paintings by Hilma af Klint (and can’t make money off her) so don’t see a reason to include her in their authoritative “History of Abstract Art”catalog. Even though she was painting abstracts years before Wassily Kandinsky so humbly self-historicized his work as “the very first abstract picture in the world.” Whatever you say, Mr. Was Silly! (4.5/5)
